We are proud to announce that following the extremely successful transition day for Year 7 back in September, we have been chosen to deliver a Bushcraft Day for Year 8 in the Summer Term 2015.
The students will work in teams to complete a series of challenges to provide for themselves as though they were marooned on the site. They will cover the basic survival requirements of Shelter, Fire, Water & Food. Each team will be allocated an area in which to base themselves. They will be given a set of tasks to complete by lunchtime, with a follow-on set for the afternoon. Each task will require members to leave the group to receive coaching on necessary skills which they then bring back to the group to pass on and use those skills. Tasks will include:
- Building a weather tight team shelter
- Locating and filtering water
- Making a campfire & making hot drinks for the team
- Cooking simple food on the fire
We look forward to welcoming Salendine Nook back to our site, and having another excellent day together!
